The ingredients were fresh and food quality was good, although on the pricier side and a few main hotpot ingredients were missing (deep fried bean curd rolls, assorted balls with filling etc). Like most hotpot restaurants you select your hotpot ingredients by ticking the menu sheet given, and they bring your ingredients to you. The interior reminded me of another famous hotpot restaurant in London, bright, modern and had booth seats. For a place that recently opened it was already very busy and full of Chinese people (which is a good sign). ![]() □Ĭoming from a Chinese background we had high expectations of what hotpot should be like, and this place did not disappoint in terms of food quality. They had a 20% off deal for lunch, which made it quite a bargain overall. However, the restroom was clean, which was a plus. The only downside was that their accessible restroom was out of order, so Su had to make her way down to the regular restroom with her walking stick. I explained that they bring a numbing sensation and enhance the flavor, quite common in Chinese cuisine. In the clear oil broth, there was Sichuan Peppercorns, something Su had never seen before. The grilled lamb skewers were a real showstopper, and Su exclaimed that she'd never had such delicious Lamb Kebab before. The mushroom platter was also impressive, with a wide selection. ![]() The variety of ingredients was quite fresh, and we ordered plenty of seafood the sea bass slices and prawn paste were tender and delicious. I went for the non-spicy mushroom broth hotpot, while Su tried the mildly spicy clear oil hotpot. Su seemed to grasp the concept but was quite surprised when everything arrived at the table. My neighbour, Su, is British and had never tried hotpot before, so I explained to her what it was all about. I had been eyeing Hotto Potto, an old-school hotpot place in East London, and today, I finally went with my neighbour (๑ On a scorching hot day, of course, you've got to have hotpot with the air conditioning on!
